Kitts, the man who found it all, ended up with about $2,700 after legal fees, by one account. He used it to pay off his van.
"I can sleep at night," he said. "I don't have to hide something. I'd do it again."

He did learn one thing from that first promise to split it. "I get most everything in writing now," he said.
