Liz Cambers and her two classmates spent months on the phone and in Kansas libraries, with their teacher, Norm Conard. They turned what they found into a short play for the history contest and called it Life in a Jar.
They were rehearsing for the state competition when word came from the Jewish Foundation for the Righteous in New York.
The foundation had news about Irena Sendler.
