An Easter Gift From a Tsar

The article said experts were hunting for a lost treasure: the Third Imperial Easter Egg, made for the Russian royal family.

It came from the workshop of the famous Russian jeweler Carl Faberge. At Easter in 1887, Tsar Alexander III gave it to his wife, Empress Maria Feodorovna.

The egg was shown in public in St Petersburg in March 1902.

Then came the Russian Revolution.
