Frank's partnership with Buddy did more than get one man across one street. It showed the American public, for the first time, that a trained guide dog could give a blind person real independence and mobility — not as a novelty, but as something that worked. The Seeing Eye itself still names Frank and Buddy among the central figures in its founding story. It started with one magazine article, one ocean crossing, and one word sent home by telegram.
