He Couldn't See a Single Car Coming

In 1928, a blind man stepped off a curb into the middle of Manhattan traffic. He couldn't see the cars, the signals, or the sidewalk on the other side. He was trusting his life entirely to a dog walking beside him. A small crowd of reporters had gathered because almost nobody in America believed a dog could actually do this. What happened at that curb helped launch something that still exists today.
