It was her obituary. Vivian Maier had died on April 21, 2009, at 83, in a nursing home in Highland Park, outside Chicago.
Maloof had found her name just days too late.
The obituary called her “a free and kindred spirit who magically touched the lives of all who knew her.” It also described her as “second mother to John, Lane and Matthew.”
