A Klimt in Piacenza

It was Portrait of a Lady, by Gustav Klimt, the Austrian painter famous for his portraits of women. Klimt painted it in 1916 and 1917. The Ricci Oddi gallery bought it in 1925.

For about 70 years, it belonged to the gallery in Piacenza. Then, in 1996, a young art student studied it closely.

She noticed that the woman's pose looked strangely familiar.
