According to The Sun, the thief sold it to a pub landlord, Ron Guest, for “not much money plus a few free pints.” The bass that played on “She Loves You” had been traded for a little cash and some beer.
It did not go back onto a stage, and it did not go back to McCartney. It stayed in the landlord's family, and over the years it moved out of London altogether.
