One Hesitant Step

In his acceptance speech, Sugita said he hoped one idea would spread: take the step you hesitate to take with someone's help, and cheer on someone else's step. He founded an NPO, Paraventures, to help people with disabilities get out into the world — the thing he once found hardest. In 2007, a coach promised a young man who couldn't move that they would climb Fuji together. It took 12 years and about 80 people. They did.
