What Her Lawsuit Claimed

In August 2016, Woods sued the City of Reno, two former Reno officers, a former Washoe County district attorney, two former Shreveport officers and a doctor who had treated her. Her lawyers said she was psychotic and hearing voices when she was questioned without an attorney, and that officers coerced and fabricated her statements. They also alleged investigators explained away the reports of a fleeing man by claiming Woods had a "mannish" appearance. Washoe County said both juries had relied on the best evidence available at the time, including her own confessions.
