Convicted in California, Not in Reno

On September 18, 2018, a San Mateo County jury took just over an hour to convict Rodney Halbower of raping and murdering Veronica Cascio, 18, and Paula Baxter, 17, in 1976. He was sentenced to life in prison. Authorities believe he killed six women and girls that year, Michelle Mitchell among them, but he had been charged with two. Michelle's family attended the California case, determined to see him face the Reno evidence too.
