"The State Was Wrong"

Washoe County settled its part of her lawsuit for $3 million in August 2019. The City of Reno paid $3 million more in August 2020. That October, under a compensation law Nevada had passed only the year before, the state agreed to pay Woods $2.85 million and issued her a Certificate of Innocence. Attorney General Aaron Ford said it plainly: "The state was wrong in this instance." Woods was 70.
