A Letter She Needed Help to Write

In 2013, Woods, who had difficulty reading and writing, asked another inmate to help her compose a letter to the Rocky Mountain Innocence Project. The request was specific: DNA testing of the evidence from Michelle Mitchell's murder. A Reno attorney was appointed to petition the court on her behalf. It was a test no one could have run at either of her trials; DNA had not been an available tool in 1980 or 1985.
