A Magazine Article, and a Condition He'd Have to Accept

In 1927, Frank read an article in the Saturday Evening Post written by Dorothy Harrison Eustis, an American living in Switzerland. It described a program there training dogs to guide people who had lost their sight — including soldiers blinded in World War I. Frank wrote to Eustis directly, asking whether one of these dogs could help him too. She agreed to give him a chance. But there was a condition: he would have to come to Switzerland himself, and prove the partnership could actually work.
He accepted the condition and crossed the Atlantic.
